Learn the art of Hand Stitched Leather Crafting.

By the end of this five-day course you will be amazed at what you have accomplished. You will be the proud owner manufacturer of a superior quality leather belt and bag, every hole punched and stitched by hand. The course covers the introduction to different kinds of leather, working with and caring for your crafting tools, designing the pattern for your product, manufacturing from start-to-finish, caring for your items as well as product and supplier information.

SCOPE
Suitable for complete beginners, serious crafters and entrepreneurs.
This course is jam-packed, hard work and very rewarding.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
To provide practical and hands-on training that will equip each participant with the basic skills, knowledge, information and a set of start-up tools that will enable them to practice the rewarding art of hand stitched leather crafting and proceed with manufacturing directly after completion of this course.
To personally connect with each participant and to offer the best possible experience.
To empower people, to awaken creativity and promote both traditional and contemporary leather crafting.

KEY AREAS TO BE COVERED
• How to identify different kinds of leather;
• The practical use and maintenance of hand tools;
• Introduction to chemicals, leather care products and suppliers;
• Hand-stitching methods;
• How to hand color / spray color and Saddle Stitch a Belt;
• How to design and manufacture one of the following items:
o Standard Hand Bag or
o Tote bag or
o Back Pack;
• Lining your bag with pig-split leather;
• Strong focus on the manufacturing of each
component to perfection, assembly methods and workflow,
finishing techniques and quality control;
• How to fit zips (we use only YKK zips);
• How to manufacture and fit different styles of handles, straps and pockets;
• Attachment techniques – all hardware, slings, handles, straps,
pockets, etc.;
• Setting of hardware – D-Rings, Rivets, Turn Locks, etc;
• Supplier information;

PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
• As soon as attendance is confirmed, we will forward you a registration form and invoice;
• A deposit payment of 50% is required within 7 days of registration;
• The balance is payable no later than 10 days prior to the course start date;
• We work on a first come first served principle;
• Bookings will only be secured upon receipt of a deposit payment.

Event Details

Commander Race Alpha consists of a 5.5km as well as an 11km obstacle cross race with 25 and 50 obstacles respectively. Only Open Division, Elite Racers are however welcome. Waves of 10 athletes will be set of every 10 minutes.

Early Bird registrations (before 13 January 2019):
5.5km Race – R 180.00
11km Race – R 200.00

Registration after 13 January 2019:
5.5km Race – R 230.00
11km Race – R 250.00

All finishers will receive a finisher medal with the top 3 male and female athletes receiving special finisher medals. Top 10 finishers will also receive a 25% discount on registration fee for the March Madness Race

Event Details

The DIAMOND CRAWL MTB Race will be held for the very first time in 2019. The safety and wellbeing of all participants are of paramount importance to the organizers, and all possible measures have been undertaken to ensure this. The DIAMOND CRAWL MTB Race is a family-oriented event and provides an outdoor experience to both the race-fit, and those who prefer to just kick back and enjoy the event.

FULL: 85km (start is at 07:30am) – R250-00

LITE: 40km (start is at 07:30am) – R150-00

The entry fee includes all nutrition and food at water points and a finisher medal on the Saturday.

There will be a total of 3 water stations placed at strategic points along the routes on the day.
Comprehensive EMS will be present at the event
A full medical team will be present at the start of the race to ensure every athlete is fit enough to take part.
The same medical staff will also be present at the finish to ensure assistance for any athletes in need.
Safety and route briefings will be held before the start of the race.
Registration and Entries will be from 05:30 on Saturday 26 January 2019 at Weltevreden Guest Lodge on race morning.

Race briefing at 07h00 on the morning before the race start.
Compulsory gear check will be 15 minutes before the start of each stage.

Venue & Facilities:
Toilets – There is a permanent toilet block available.
Water – There is supply of fresh water onsite. But you can bring all the water and fluids you will need. There will be soft drinks and food on sale, and supply of water at the designated water point only.
Medical Assistance – will be in attendance throughout the race. Please ask for medical help if you have the slightest hint you may need it. If you have developed a medical condition that may impact on your ability to race, please notify the race organizers before the race.

Rider and Bike Riders must wear a cycling helmet whilst riding a bike at this event. Race Numbers – Each rider is given an individual race number plate. This must be fitted to the handlebar area of the bike (zip ties will be provided). Your race number plate is yours to keep after the event; it will make a great souvenir over the bar.

Rider Etiquette MTB enduro racing is known and valued for good sportsmanship. Let’s keep that tradition alive for this event. We want everyone to have a positive experience, and a good attitude while out on the track will go a long way to make it a great event for all. Poor sportsmanship may result in rider disqualification and is at the sole discretion of the race director.
